Size/ColorHolographic Chrome Silver / 5FT x 50FT

Iridescent Holographic Silver is a special holographic film with a light silver base carrying a full-spectrum colour shift — blues, violets, greens and golds move across the surface as you change your viewing angle or walk past the panel. Please read the intended-use note before ordering: this film is recommended for cut graphics, decorative trim and lettering rather than for covering a whole vehicle.

  • Special holographic film — silver base with a full-spectrum shift; intended for cut graphics, trim and lettering, not full wraps
  • Acrylic-based air-release adhesive, repositionable during fitting; dry application
  • One roll, 5 ft × 50 ft (250 sq ft gross), cut to size for graphics, accents and signage work

FAQ

Can I wrap my whole car with this?

We do not recommend it. Holographic pattern can read unevenly over large continuous surfaces, and an even result across a whole vehicle is difficult even for experienced installers. Use it for cut graphics, trim and lettering instead.

What is it actually good for?

Cut graphics, decorative strips, lettering, signage and advertising work, plus small trim pieces such as mirror caps and interior accents.

Does it really change colour, or is that just the photos?

It genuinely shifts with viewing angle and light source. Photographs capture one moment of that shift, which is why your own result will vary more than the gallery suggests.

Why do two pieces look like different colours?

Because the effect is directional — different angles reflect different parts of the spectrum. That is inherent to holographic film, not a fault.

Is this the same thing as chrome?

No. It has a bright silver base, but chrome aims for mirror reflection while this aims for a colour shift. They read quite differently.

Can I fix a stretched or creased piece afterwards?

Generally no. Once tension has shifted the colour pattern, cutting and fitting a new piece is usually the only route to an even result.

Finish and appearance

Holographic (iridescent, glossy base)
Straight on, this reads as a bright silver with a faint rainbow tint sitting over it. Move off-axis and the shift opens up: one part of a panel shows cool blue and violet while an adjacent curve shows green or warm gold, because each angle is reflecting a different part of the spectrum. Direct sun gives the strongest and most saturated shift; overcast light flattens it toward a pearl silver; and at night under artificial lighting the effect becomes patchy and takes its colour from whatever light source happens to be nearby.

The base is glossy, so it reflects cleanly, and the colour shift rides on top of that reflection rather than replacing it. Two consequences follow. The effect is inherently directional, so adjacent panels will not show the same colour at the same time — that is the nature of the film, not a defect. And the shift responds to tension, so heavy pulls on deep recesses visibly change where the colour lands.

On large areas, be realistic about the result. Holographic pattern is laid down in a repeating structure, and over a large continuous surface that pattern can look uneven — banding, seams in the effect, or areas where the colour does not line up with the panel beside it. This is why the film is recommended for cut graphics, trim pieces and lettering, where each piece is small enough for the pattern to read as intended, rather than for covering a whole vehicle.

Photographs capture the shift at one angle under one light source. Expect more variation between the gallery and your own work than you would with a solid colour, and treat screen appearance as an indication rather than a match.

Appearance varies with lighting, viewing angle, panel shape and display.

Coverage depends on the vehicle, panel layout, installer and cut plan. Follow the product instructions for film-specific construction and application details.

Plan your material

This roll measures 5 ft × 50 ft (250 sq ft gross area). It does not guarantee coverage for a particular vehicle.

  1. Measure panels individually, including edges and curves.
  2. Check cut direction and seams against the 5 ft width.
  3. Allow for alignment and recuts; confirm the plan with your installer before cutting.

Installation and care

The air-release adhesive helps trapped air move toward an open edge. The film can be lifted and repositioned during installation. Apply as directed in the instructions supplied for this film.

Wait 24–48 hours before the first wash. Hand wash with pH-neutral car shampoo and avoid abrasive or automatic brush washes. For removal, use heat-assisted removal as directed for this film; paint condition and installation time can affect results. Test a small area first.
